Invisible Signals
- Connecting People, Place, Wonder & Imagination.

A proposal for exploring the nested networks of hidden messages in natural and constructed environments in the Lake Macquarie district. Discovering and reconnecting with lost memories of connection to place and past in times of rapid change and disruption.

An immersive audiovisual installation with potential for associated community participation, and live audiovisual concert. This concept extends our previous collaborative work using location-based found sounds and objects to sound and illuminate place – with a focus on revealing hidden signals in both the natural ecosystems of the area, but also the hidden signals and messages in our electronic and digital networks. Interpretative inspiration  and concrete real time data from atmospheric conditions, tidal patterns and Lake Macquarie ecosystems. The movement of people and each person's own journey through the space will become an essential and interactive element of the experience.

4 Short Videos of Recent-Past AntPaul Projects

Complementary Halves.
by Paul Fletcher & Anthony Lyons. An installation work for the International Computer Music Conference & New York City Electroacoustic Music Festival, New York City, United States, June 16-23, 2019. The work was first exhibited as an installation at the On-AIR Gallery, Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts, Singapore, 2017.

This audiovisual installation work investigated the ‘sound and image of future landscape’, and particularly the potential roles of ‘green’ space in future urban environments. Multiple projections, multichannel sound, sculptural and sense-based objects including frangipani flowers and umbrellas.

Collaborative Cosmos

is a fixed-media audiovisual work that examines the sense of the vastness, flow, beauty and self-similarity between micro and macro systems. An audiovisual macro cosmos of planetary systems are created that form, grow, and dissolve, with parallels in behaviour with micro systems of interacting biological cells. Spirographic, Micrsocopic, Galaxial entities, energy fields, interact in swirling patterns of growth, evolution and unexpected surprises.

The Audiovisual Garden,

is an installation made in collaboration with Anthony Lyons with support of Emporium Creative Hub, and City of Greater Bendigo. Plant sensors trigger midi sounds which are layered and shaped to create a gentle atmospheric mood that follows the energy patterns detected in the cells of the plant. These same midi and audio signals are used to generate  similarly gentle dynamic visual patterns - steady state equilibrium, organic patterns within apparent chaos. We hope to continue, building on these experiments and find more places to plant and grow the installation!     antpaulprojects.wixsite.com/antpaulprojects

Remote Connections,

For many friday evenings during "lockdowns",

2020 and 2021 we 'practised', 'rehearsed', & experimented with creating live semi-improvised audiovisual creations via remote internet connection between our two locations. We managed to get some good quality recordings of visuals & sound despite fairly regular drop-outs in the connection and glitches in audio and  video playback & synch.

This is a little composition that evolved from one of those many sessions. Remote connections between different art forms and communications such as music and image. Close and distant connections between image, people, places, times. Remote Connections between places, people and ideas .
